2017 ETA All Star Game
The ETA's Midget All Star game was played on December 2, 2017 – 2pm at the Aurora Community Centre as part of the ETA Showcase event.
The 25th year of this event featured the top 40 players in the Midget division of the ETA.  Team West (Black Jersey’s) vs. Team East (Red Jersey’s). It was a fast-paced, hard fought and sometimes a physical game. The game started with both teams pushing the pace with many scoring opportunities for each team.

Team East opened the scoring at the 4:05 mark on a shot by Brett Benham (Central Ontario Wolves) assisted by Patrick Goan (Central Ontario Wolves).  Team West tied the game at the mark 1:29 of the first period on excellent passing play set up by Nicholas Soehner (Markham Waxers) to his team mate Paul O’Doherty (Markham Waxers) who made no mistake and scored on the team east netminder.  The score remained tied to the end of the first period, there were several more scoring opportunities but both teams were held off the scoreboard by excellent goaltending from both Kyle Burnett (Central Ontario Wolves) and Sebastian Woods (Markham Waxers).

The high pace continued into the second period when Team West broke the tie at the 9:24 mark of the second period on a power play goal by Jacob Winterton (Ajax-Pickering Raiders), assisted by Daniel Ebrahim (Ajax-Pickering Raiders) and Charlie Jeans (North Central Predators).

Team East tied up the game at the 14:30 mark of the third period on a nice passing play by Matt Poole (Quinte Red Devils) who found Alex Bourre (Central Ontario Wolves) alone in front of the team west goal and he scored on a hard wrist shot.

Team West pushed for the go-ahead goal for the next 12 minutes, but only Team East could find the back of the net on a goal by Matt Poole (Quinte Red Devils) set up by Alex Bourre (Central Ontario Wolves) at 2:43. Team West tied the game again 41 seconds later a great individual effort by Justin Madden (North Central Predators).

The game ended in a 3-3 tie, both team played a fast-paced game and the players represented their home centres with great pride and respect for the game.

The ETA would like to thank and recognize the players and coaching staff for a great game and event.

The ETA will soon be announcing the ETA All Star team that will play SCTA All Stars in January at the SCTA Showcase Weekend in St. Catharines.
