ETA Edges SCTA in Midget All Star Game

The ETA/SCTA All Star game was played as part of the SCTA Minor Midget Showcase at the Seymour-Hannah Sports Complex in St. Catherines, Ontario.  Starting in goal for Team ETA Damon Beaver (Whitby Wildcats) and Team SCTA Connor Ogg (Niagara North Stars).  The game started at a very fast pace with end to end action and excellent scoring chances by both teams.

Team ETA struck first with a goal at the 5:32 mark of the first period scored by Alex Bourre (Central Ontario Wolves) with the lone assist to Jacob Winterton (Ajax Pickering Raiders).  Team SCTA evened the score 4 minutes later at 9:35 of the 1st on a great individual effort by Anthony Pinelli (Niagara North Stars).  Team SCTA took the lead at 10:45 of the 1st on a goal by Nathan Reichel (Buffalo Regals) assisted by Richard Coulson (Burlington Eagles).  Team ETA pushed the pace in the second half of the period.  Team ETA scored the next 2 goals, at 11:01 by Jacob Winterton assisted by Alex Bourre and at 12:24 by Evan Cross (Clarington Toros) assisted by Matt Poole (Quinte Red Devils) and Matt Zebedee (Richmond Hill Coyotes).  The first period ended, Team ETA - 3 and Team SCTA - 2.

Team ETA scored at 1:39 of the second with a goal by Evan Cross on a nice pass from Dakota Betts Clarington Toros).  Both teams changed goalies at the 10:12 mark of the second period, in goal for the ETA Mitchell Weeks (North Central Predators) and SCTA Daniel Merlino (Halton Hurricanes).  Team SCTA scored at the 15:12 with a goal by Richard Coulson assisted John Goldowski (Buffalo Regals), and then they tied the game on scramble in front of Team ETA’s net at 17:34 by Liam Silva (Halton Hurricanes), unassisted.  The period ended with team SCTA and ETA tied 4-4.

The third period was fast paced with many scoring opportunities for both team, the period ended in a 4-4 tie.  The game went into overtime, a five-minute period 3 on 3. Team ETA ended the overtime on a game winning goal by Nicholas Soehner (Markham Waxers).
