10 ETA Midget Players Selected in OHL Under 18 Draft
Congratulations to the
10 ETA players selected in the 2018 OHL Under 18 Priority Selection Draft on
April 11th.
The Sudbury Wolves,
who also had the first pick in the 2018 OHL (Under 16) Priority Selection, also
selected an ETA player, North Central Predators’ goaltender, Mitchell Weeks with
their first pick.
Overall the ETA had 10 players chosen, 5 in the first round.
The Under 18 OHL Priority Selection (aka Midget draft) is open to all Midget aged players who were not previously selected in the Under 16 draft. This draft consists of two rounds, however should a goaltender be selected in any of the first two rounds, that club has the option to select another player (skater only) in a third round.
“The Under-18 Priority Selection is to the benefit of players who may take some extra time in their overall hockey development,” said Joe Birch, OHL Senior Director of Hockey Development and Special Events. “The long term hope remains that this initiative will bring accomplished players to the OHL, but also grow the exposure of Midget AAA hockey within the province and help the development of this important level for players, goaltenders, and coaches.”
